Sri Lanka is an incredibly diverse destination;
the country’s variety of landscapes, wildlife and attractions are usually only found across an entire continent. With so much to see and do, it can be a challenge planning your itinerary and finding a villa that’s right for your holiday needs. But don’t hesitate to get in touch - we’d love to share our knowledge of the island and to help you seek out the best destinations for your vacation.
The coastal town of
Galle, located about two hours’ drive from the airport is a place that retains much of its
historical allure. Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must-see attraction best explored through a walking tour. The beautiful colonial-style architecture is one of the highlights here, along with cultural sites like the Dutch Reformed Church, Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum Complex and National Maritime Archaeology Museum.
From Galle, hop into a car for a one-hour drive to the
southern region of Sri Lanka. A
breathtaking coastal scenery - with golden beaches, sparkling ocean waters and palm-fringed shores - await. Away from the beach, there’s a plethora of activities and attractions - from dolphin or turtle watching, to visiting the national parks and tea estates.
Central Sri Lanka is known for its
majestic cultural sites and picture-perfect landscape. The cultural capital of Kandy is home to renowned attractions like the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and Sri Mahabodhi Maha Viharaya, while Nuwara Eliya - otherwise known as the Hill Country - boasts a beautiful countryside setting, lush tea plantations and cool springtime weather. The region is also a great base to explore sites within the country’s Cultural Triangle, like Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura.
Sri Lanka’s myriad destinations are spread out across a vast geographical area, so the best way to explore is through
picking out two or three locations to stay at, and use these as bases to travel around the island. A five-day to week-long trip is ideal for exploring two destinations like
Galle and the Yala National Park, while two weeks or more will leave ample time for discovering three destinations.
