Highgrove Estate is een gerestaureerde luxe Engelse bungalow die in de 19e eeuw aan een planter toebehoorde. Gelegen op de rand van een heuvelrug met een prachtig uitzicht over de groene theeplantages op de heuvels van Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. Anders dan andere delen van het eiland is Nuwara Eliya een koele en rustige bestemming met niets dan glooiende groene heuvels, mistige bergen en kilometerslange waterpartijen.
Het landgoed zelf is een elegant en typisch huis met een schilddak en een zeshoekig prieel aan de voorkant. Met drie weelderige slaapkamers en open haarden in het hele huis is de bungalow ideaal voor een onvergetelijke vakantie met de mensen van wie je houdt.

Highgrove Estate is de thuisbasis van drie grote slaapkamers - de Master King suite, de Queen suite en de Garden suite. De slaapkamers zijn net zo prachtig binnen als ze zijn door hun buiten. Ingericht met comfortabele bedden met wit linnen samen met antieke werktafels, bedtafels, en voorzien van open haarden, zijn de slaapkamers geschikt voor royalty's. De klassieke interieurs doen denken aan een koloniaal Engels huis met uitzicht op de Sri Lankaanse berghelling. U kunt genieten van een weelderig uitzicht op de theeplantages, de grandioze Kondagala-rots en het stuwmeer. De slaapkamers hebben een eigen badkamer met de nodige voorzieningen.
Met uitzichten zoals de hoge bergen gehuld in dikke wolken, het majestueuze Kotmale stuwmeer omlijst door weelderige theeplantages, en oneindige vergezichten zover het oog reikt, zult u werkelijk al uw tijd buiten willen doorbrengen. De tuinen zijn ingericht met een prachtige ontbijttafel in koloniale stijl voor een stevige compilatie van continentale lekkernijen, verse koffie en sap. Geniet van lange, ontspannen wandelingen langs de heuvels, adem de frisse berglucht in, en breng wat tijd door te midden van pure, onvervalste natuur.
Highgrove Estate is een thee landgoed bungalow die het zijn unieke, pittoreske charme geeft. De bungalow is omgeven door een weelderige natuur en is met zijn antieke interieurs en handgemaakte houten meubelen die moeilijk te vinden zijn, buitengewoon mooi. Er is een knetterende open haard in de prachtige woonkamer met een beschermer, zodat kinderen zorgeloos kunnen spelen. De pluche, witte sofa's en fauteuils zijn zacht als wolken. Van de vintage boekenkast tot de houten kast, elk element speelt een rol in het samenbrengen van de kamer. De ramen en glazen deuren geven de kamer de allure van een natuurlijk schilderij.
De verfijnde inrichting is slechts de kers op de taart, want deze natuurlijke omgeving levert ook verse producten voor uw ontbijt, bed-thee, en andere maaltijden. Geniet van een overheerlijk feestmaal bij kaarslicht op de mahoniehouten tafel. Van huisbereide maaltijden tot verse aardbeien om van te snoepen, alles komt rechtstreeks uit de tuin. Het personeel serveert graag een heerlijk Sri Lankaans broodbeleg zodat u de lokale smaken kunt uitproberen, bereid door deskundigen.
Het team van Highgrove Estate is goed opgeleid en zal u met een warme glimlach ontvangen. Het personeel zorgt voor het onderhoud van de bungalow, zodat gasten zorgeloos kunnen ontspannen en tot rust komen. U kunt zelfs een heerlijke maaltijd van het menu kiezen en het personeel van tevoren vragen.
Nuwara Eliya staat bekend om zijn paardenstallen, theeplantages en de befaamde 18-holes golfbaan in het centrum van de stad. Je kunt van de gelegenheid gebruikmaken om het theelandgoed te bezoeken en een Tea Billy Walk op maat te maken of zelfs een opwindende natuurwandeling te maken. De wereld is jouw schotel op deze majestueuze, surrealistische bestemming ergens in de heuvels.

10/10Incredible property and people. It was a pleasure to meet Johnston who was attentive to every detail to make our stay incredible. The surronding and the house is just magical. You feel like in another era.
10/10What a gorgeous property and exactly what we were looking for on our journey through Sri Lanka's tea country. Johnson and his team really looked after us - the house was all decorated with Christmas lights when we arrived and felt really festive and welcoming. The in-house chefs were wonderful and cooked some really fabulous meals for us during our stay. Nothing was a problem. Johnson went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and happy, suggesting great outings in the area. It was a perfect launch pad for parts of the Pekoe Trail which we could reach in half an hour from the bungalow. The bungalow grounds are gorgeous and well kept with lovely views over the valley, and the house itself is beautifully decorated and homey and we never wanted to leave.
10/10Highgrove is a splendid, once-in-a-lifetime experience: the best in our 3 weeks long journey across Sri Lanka, where we stayed mostly install, upmarket heritage hotels. The bungalow, the location among the tea estates, the service, the team led by Johnson, the food, the atmosphere, the attention to details were superb. One can one be grateful that the owners- a business family from Colombo - decided to refurbish, re-launch and protect this historical cottage near Newark Eliya. Its view over the valley is unforgettable, the decor is perfect, the feeling is not of a hotel but of a private, luxury mansion where then owners have kindly accepted to have guess. We can only recommend this incredible, serene, peaceful place to anyone who is looking for something different, better, higher. Thank you again manager Johnson, you are doing a fantastic job and being your guests has been a privilege.
10/10We stayed in five BnBs and three hotels during our stay in Sri Lanka . Without a doubt, Highgrove Estate was our favorite. The staff was incredible. The food was incredible. And the location, unbelievable. The views, and grounds made us want to stay for weeks, not just a few nights. We try to stay in locations that are nicer than our own home, so it feels special. Like a vacation. Highgrove Estate absolutely fulfilled that standard. The beds were comfy, and everything was immaculately cleaned.

10/10I’m writing this in the front garden enjoying amazing views and a lovely mood this early morning. Really love this breathtaking place. Welcomed with friendly hospitality Kanchana was the perfect host throughout our stay and a very clever chef. We enjoyed his cooking a lot and now we are off to enjoy our final breakfast. All the staff here are very nice and helpful and the views from this house are truly stunning! Live living up in the clouds! Love Agnes.
