The villa has been designed in such a way that no matter where you are, you always have a front-row seat to views of the reservoir and the mountains. Such is the case from the three, luxurious bedrooms - Kundalini, Samatha, Vipassana - as well. Each has been designed with a similar antique aesthetic with supersized king beds, vintage armoires, and luxe lighting.
Each bedroom is designed with modern comforts such as air-conditioning to make sure you are not inconvenienced in any way. You will find murals, tapestries, and a ubiquitous sense of calm and spirituality. There are ensuite bathrooms with opulent interiors, stone bathtubs and showers, and mesmerising views.
The Hermitage is found in the centre of six acres of forest land that give you an idea of what's in store. There are more than 40 species of birds and a variety of animals that share the same land as you. This resplendent and luscious area is the right ingredient to help you unwind and rejuvenate. The infinity swimming pool looks out across thickets of dense trees and is bordered by a wooden pool deck lined with sunbeds. There is a terrace with outdoor dining and sitting as well overlooking the water frontage of Victoria Reservoir.

La villa ha sido construida así por un renombrado arquitecto y diseñador de Sri Lanka que se ha esforzado por ofrecer a los huéspedes un hogar que se hace eco de la antigüedad y la tradición. Completamente diseñada con muebles y accesorios antiguos, la zona de estar de The Hermitage cuenta con sofás de cuero, fotografías selectivas, un suelo de roca natural y muebles rústicos. Cada elemento tiene una historia que contar y no hay un solo espacio donde encontrar el descanso.
En la villa hay una segunda y una tercera zona de estar, ambas de concepto abierto y rodeadas de la más exuberante flora tropical y abundante luz solar. Cada una de ellas presenta un diseño único de Kandyan con un encanto del viejo mundo tan intrínseco a Sri Lanka.
La casa tiene varios pisos, por lo que el comedor se encuentra en la planta baja, con impresionantes vistas al jardín o al agua en el otro lado. Una mesa de comedor para ocho personas se alza majestuosamente en el centro, donde se crean muchos recuerdos en torno a la comida y la conversación.
Tan lujosa como su vivienda, así son los servicios prestados por el personal altamente capacitado y profesional de The Hermitage. El equipo está preparado para atender a los huéspedes con gusto y son tan acogedores como amables. Hay un spa donde se pueden recibir masajes con aceites hechos en la propia villa. Alquile coches o una moto para desplazarse y reserve un chef privado para disfrutar de los sabores locales entregados directamente por el experto. La villa está convenientemente situada a sólo 11 kilómetros de la ciudad de Kandy, en Sri Lanka, que alberga el famoso Templo de la Sagrada Reliquia del Diente. Incluso se puede llegar al lago K andy desde las agradables vistas.
9.8/10We spent seven nights here and used it as a base to see the central part of Sri Lanka. It is a beautiful villa overlooking Lake Victoria. The breeze passes through the house making it a very cool place to rest and relax. The rooms are large and comfortable with everything you may need. The staff is very obliging and willing to accommodate most requests. The Sri Lankan and English breakfast are good with excellent fruit platters and freshly squeezed juices. The dinners are not gourmet if you don't choose the local food but are absolutely fine. The Sri Lankan food though is excellent. The pool is beautifully clean and a welcome spot to spend some time. It is not licensed so BYO wine. They provide glasses and a fridge to chill it should you need it. Perfectly feasible to visit the tea plantations, the spice growing area, Kandy itself etc from here and have the luxury of coming back to the same bed. It is run by two delighful men and a chef who do all they can to make you feel at home. Highly recommended.
9.6/10After reading mixed revies online, we were a bit hesitant to go ahead with this property but went with our intuitions anyway. The property is a 30 minutes drive from Kandy town and does not have any boards of signs of its existence. An unmarked detour leads to this lush property. The property is constructed beautifully in the most eco-friendly way to ensure the trees and nature remains. This airy property faces lake Victoria and has only 3 rooms which are tastefully furnished, has a lovely bathrooms with tub views of the pool and lake and an open shower that can turn interesting when it rains. They have two amazing staff ever ready to cater to your needs at any time of the day or night. We were so in love with the property that leaving it to go sightseeing was tough. It was home away from home for us. Our special thanks to Supuri & Pushpa for ensuring that we have the most amazing stay. Stay here to enjoy nature, forest sounds, amazing views and some ROMANCE.
