Scottish Planter Bungalow is nestled away amidst the extensive tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka’s picture-perfect hill country. There is much to see and do here, and your villa manager will readily assist in organising excursions to surrounding attractions.
We recommend making a visit to the town centre of Nuwara Eliya, going for leisurely strolls in the nearby tea plantations, arranging for private visits to the Lidasdale or Hgh Forest Tea Factories or going for a trek at the Horton Plains National Park.
10/10This was such a beautiful, historic place to be. We booked dinner, bed and breakfast, which we are so pleased we did. The food was delicious, beautifully cooked and presented, using locally sourced ingredients. The staff were very attentive and were happy to light the fires for us in the main sitting room and dining room
10/10Exceptional
10/10Lovely setting in tea plantation, top quality meals with attentive staff. Perfect location if you want to get away and relax as quite isolated.
10/10The lush vegetation, the friendliness of the staff - The charm of the place and the calm
10/10We stayed at Scottish Planter – Glendevon Bungalow from April 22–24, 2025, and it was truly one of a kind. Nestled in the tranquil hills of Ragala, this heritage bungalow dating back to 1880 welcomed us with warmth, serenity, and unmatched hospitality. After a long 16-hour journey with my infant son, wife, and mother, we arrived at 10:30 PM — yet everything was perfectly arranged for us, thanks to Manusanka, the ever-gracious property manager. From coordinating a pick-up van for the 1.2 km off-road trail to ensuring we had everything we needed upon arrival, his care made us feel right at home. The bungalow itself is a living piece of history — impeccably maintained, tastefully appointed, and surrounded by lush greenery, landscaped gardens, and the peaceful sounds of nature. The set-course meals were absolutely delicious — every dish was prepared with love and left us wanting more. A special thank you to Kapila, who attended to us throughout our stay with kindness and attentiveness. Whether it was adjusting breakfast to suit our preferences or ensuring we had everything we needed, he truly made a difference. This is a remote getaway, and that’s exactly its charm. Birdsong by day, starry skies by night, and the pure stillness of nature all around — it’s a place to disconnect and truly rejuvenate. We’re grateful for the experience and look forward to returning again. Thank you, Manusanka, for your incredible hospitality — and for the lovely conversations we’ll always remember. Wishing you and the entire Scottish Planter Bungalow team all the very best!
