A sparkling swimming pool, surrounding by lush foliage is the focal point outdoors. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and relax, or to perk up your energy levels with a refreshing dip. After a swim, dry off against the poolside loungers while you sip a fresh coconut juice and take in the postcard-perfect scenery.
While the villa features a majestic dining room and an alfresco dining area, guests may also opt for a dining experience out on the sprawling lawn or by the poolside, or enjoy a picnic under the shade of the rubber trees.
Glenross Plantation Bungalow boasts living spaces that are elegant and capacious. The decor is a blend of old and new; while traditional elements typical of a colonial planter’s bungalow are retained, the interiors also feature contemporary furnishings and modern amenities.
Arched doorways connect the lofty, wood-panel common areas, all of which feature expansive windows that let in ample sunlight. The dining room exudes a sense of splendour with its hanging chandelier and dark wood dining set. A cosy lounge area, fitted with plump couches, accent chairs and artworks invite vacationers to unwind, curl up with a book or spend quality time with friends and family.
Colonial recreational games such as carom, chess and darts are provided, so vacationers get to experience age old traditions - where friends and family enjoy each other’s company, play games and savour Ceylon tea for hours on end.
Glenross Plantation Bungalow is a full service property. The impeccable butler service will ensure that all your vacation needs are taken care of. Take advantage of the excellent personal chef services, where you’ll get to savour an array of mouthwatering Sri Lankan fare, and choose from multiple dining locations within the villa. Bon appétit!
Glenross Plantation Bungalow is located in Kalutara, a picturesque settlement about one and a half hour’s drive from the Bandaranaike International Airport. Kalutara is home to monuments and postcard-perfect beaches, and makes a great base for renowned attractions like Galle Fort and Udawalawe National Park.
Start off your sightseeing with a visit to the Kalutara Bodhiya. It’s the only Buddhist shrine in the world that is hollow, and visitors have the opportunity to view a range of intricate paintings during a tour of the compound.
The sprawling Richmond Castle is a striking Edwardian mansion set amidst a lush garden. A tour through the grounds is made all the more fascinating thanks to the informative guide, who regales the fascinating, but sad history of its owners.
Brief Garden, once the official residence of Ceylonese landscaper Bewis Bawa is a widely popular attraction. Start with a stroll through the well-manicured garden, followed by a tour of the home, which contains a collection of artworks by Bawa and his friends. Make time to visit the nearby Lunuganga Estate for a guided tour of its stunning garden designed by prominent Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa.
The coastal town of Galle is a popular day trip attraction. The main draw in town is Galle Fort, a historic walled city containing beautifully preserved churches, colonial buildings and myriad boutiques, restaurants and cafes. A stroll along the fort walls is incredibly scenic, and is accompanied by views out to the ocean.
For a different scenery altogether, plan a tour with friends and family to Udawalawe National Park. Here, you’ll get the chance to see herds of elephants, sambar deer and crocodiles up close as your traverse through dense forests and marshes. The national park is about four hours’ drive from your villa.

10/10This was the perfect weekend! The villa is not too far from Colombo so it is not a tiring journey, and the weather once you get there is excellent because of the rubber trees and the elevation. Stayed for one night and thoroughly enjoyed, ourselves. The rooms are massive and beautifully done, with large windows, lovely furnishing and a separate area for a TV and sofa. The bed was so comfortable that every time I got onto it, I fell asleep! Bathrooms are perfect, clean, spacious, and well-stocked. But my favorite part of the room? The library!!!! There was a collection of books in our room that spanned many genres. The villa is two-storied, with a small pool at the back, like a hidden gem. The gardens (both front and back) are fairly large (and when not, they lead to so many small roads that one can stay occupied for a while). There is a patio area for meals and this area overlooks the front garden and the mountains in the far distance. Loved the setting, but loved the food more. The chefs from Blue Water, Wadduwa, gave us heaven on platters. There was such a variety and an abundance of food (including desserts) and they all vied for top spot as tastiest dish. The manager took excellent care of us, providing us with whatever dish or small necessity we asked for. In fact, no dish was refused, and they went beyond to ensure we had enough food. I spent most of the two days sitting at the table or on the chairs in the garden, reading. The place is a haven for someone who loves peace and quiet, and when not engaged in reading, I was happy to look at the mountains. This is the kind of place you deserve to be at when on holiday. As comfortable as your home, but with the prompt and excellent service of a hotel. I was so well rested after the stay here, and I just did not want to leave. I would highly recommend the place to anyone! In fact, I have!
