Three Sisters is a two-storey, beachfront villa that embodies rustic, coastal design. Interiors are appointed with mostly antique, elaborate and finely finished wood furnishings and fixtures with a few weathered and comfortable pieces, as well as adorned with artworks depicting traditional figures. Amenities are deliberately first rate – to assure each and every guest’s absolute convenience and diversion. Built on an elevated property along Matara Beach, Three Sisters accords you vacation living with a homey, peaceful and seaside air.
The villa has three bedrooms. Two are on the ground floor. The Pool Bedroom has direct access to the swimming area, while the Courtyard Bedroom opens out to the beach-view garden. Both bedrooms have canopied double beds as well as dedicated bathrooms. The entire second floor is devoted to the Loft Bedroom which has a canopied king-sized bed, two single beds, a dedicated bathroom and its very own living area.
Alongside the villa is an infinity pool. Dip into its alluring, crystal clear waters even after your morning swim in the ocean and continue your communion with your most favorite element. On one side of the pool is a shallow portion where the kids can playfully splash about. If you wish to bathe, instead, in the sun, you can laze on elongated, cushioned, wooden pool beds under the trees on the poolside stone deck or on the well-kept lawn facing the beach.
Indoors, on the spacious ground floor, is the living area with its brightly colored couch. Here, you can all assemble for amusing and animated sharing and storytelling. There are three dining areas – one is indoor with a dark wood table for eight, and two alfresco. One is on the airy covered terrace, while the other is on the open-air, sea-view garden deck. Both have wooden tables for six. At any of these dining areas, you can all feast on authentic Sri Lankan cuisine – as well as your most requested comfort food and beverages – concocted by the in-house chef at the villa’s very own kitchen.
Assigned to attend to the villa’s daily services is a staff composed of a housekeeper, a chef and a gardener.
Three Sisters is based in the town of Matara – along Sri Lanka’s southern shoreline. From the villa, a stairway leads to Matara Beach where you can spend the day swimming, surfing and beach combing. You can also go on a temple tour that covers the island temple of Parey Dewa or Paravi Dupatha, Weragampita Rajamaha Viharaya and Matara Bodhiya where you will find the sacred fig tree. On another day trip, you can go sightseeing at Matara Fort, the Dutch Reformed Church, Star Fort, the Old Nupe Market and St. Mary’s Church.
10/10An absolutely stunning location that offers plenty of space and bags of flavour. Lester and his small team were on hand to ensure that every detail was seen to with loads of care. We settled into our holiday quickly and with ease. The delectable cuisine however is the jewel in the crown. There is a delightful assortment of Sri Lankan favourites that we enjoyed during our stay. The spicy coconut salad (Pol Sambol) goes with just about anything. The villa also offers a generous suite, the loft, which sleeps plenty while our room had its own shower room! Open to the sky and with doors that, when opened, overlooked the garden and ocean as well. A clever feature which adds to the already abundant landscape. Access to the beach below is through a staircase in the garden and a morning sea swim was a perfect prelude to breakfast, which truly appears to be prepared with champions in mind. We arrived following a beautiful but long trek in a rain forrest so our stay here was the perfect tonic for the senses.
10/10We are a family of 5 who stayed at the 3 Sisters for 4 nights this Summer. A lively place with 2 very attentive staff in Lester and his colleague. We stayed in the Loft Room which comfortably sleeps 5 and was very clean and well maintained. It has 2 large ceiling fans, air con and window shutters for a very good sleep. The villa is in a lovely garden just above the beach and has a great pool in it. You can access the nearly empty beach through a back gate in the garden. The food was fabulous- Lester can doom anything from a very spicey Sri Lankan dish or a western dish for those who want one. Breakfasts were really nice and made for whatever time we wanted. The perfect place if you are looking to relax and wind down for up to a week. One thing to note is that the villa only takes cash - SL Rupees or USD- but Matara town is 3K away and an easy ride by Tuk Tuk and has many cash points.
10/10We were privileged to visit three sisters for a few days in March 2017. The service was top notch. The food was excellent; they even took the time to explain the food presented at each meal. Everything is clean. The pool is refreshing. The beach is very quiet and beautiful. There is a surfing school nearby but they are not a bother at all and they're time out on the water is usually early in the morning and then during dinner. Besides, it's quite fun to watch everyone enjoy the waves. Further still, if surfing is something you want to take on, this is a great spot for it. Can't recommend this place highly enough. It's a must-see on the southern side of Sri Lanka.
