10/10Beautiful, huge villa with fantastic views and great hosts. Individual wishes, e.g. when eating, are catered to. The journey is very adventurous as the road conditions to the villa are difficult. The location is very remote, but also accordingly in the middle of nature, with monkeys in the garden and views over the lake.
10/10A really beautiful villa with a stunning view. We stayed two families (4 adults and 4 kids ages 2-6) for 4 nights. The staff was really friendly, attentive and took great care of us, and the hostess was very kind, proactive and responsive. The villa is great for some days of total relaxation!
10/10One of the nicest airbnbs we have ever started at. The host was extremely helpful and accommodating and the staff was great. Everything in this home is better in reality as compared to the pictures, definitely a pleasant surprise for all who stay here.
10/10We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Sunil Shirani’s place. On arrival the sublime nature of the accommodation surrounded by glass windows completely exceeded our expectations. The photos didn’t really do justice. Milan, Kapila and Kevin really looked after us and nothing was too much of an ask. The views from the infinity pool was amazing. Our only regret was not staying there longer! We are already planning our next visit!
10/10We wanted to explore Kandy, so we rented this house about 30 minutes away by car. This is a beautiful home, perfect for one family. Upstairs, there is a master bedroom, and two bedrooms downstairs where our children slept. There is another bedroom accessible on the side of the building where our driver lived. The house has a great design, very spacious, and the view from the deck is breathtaking! The service was very kind and helpful. What was missing, so we could say that there were 100 points out of 100, the food was tasty, but not outstanding, and the water in the pool, which is not heated, so it was quite cool. Plus a host who was very flexible and allowed us to stay longer even though the stay was over.
10/10Incredible villa and hospitable staff. Talented chef who makes delicious meals. The photos don’t do it justice as it’s more beautiful and more spacious than you see online!! Highly recommend! Thank you to all the team who made our stay special.
10/10We had an excellent stay at the property. Milan ensured the service was always on point. Kevin, the chef added a unique twist to every meal- food overall was excellent. Chandra's service too was excellent. The views were fanatsic and the sounds of nature added to the experience. Can do a nice walk to the edge of the reservoir below. The place is also close to Pettiagala, which is a moderately tough hike which gives you fantastic views of the area. The only drawback was that the villa gets a bit hot in the afternoon and the master bedroom AC is not sufficient to ensure good cooling in the room.
10/10The Glass House panorama is best described by its breath taking views of the lake and Knuckles mountain range and stays true to its name. Facing the panoramic view of the tranquil Victorian Reservoir, the villa offers an unforgettable experience thats second to none. We spent 2 unforgettable days with 2 other couples and had the villa to ourselves, the staff were very helpful and the chef was excellent. The terrace and infinity pool was magical during the day and very colorful at night. Living area feels so much alive with the surrounding nature that was visible through massive glass from all sides and the bedroom perched in the background. Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and the beds most comfortable. The breathtaking view of the lake, hornbills flying close to your window, monkeys jumping on nearby treetops are a few highlights we experienced during our short stay here. The Victoria Golf Club is a 2 minute drive from the villa where we played an 18 hole game which was unforgettable. The golf course is ranked as one of the top golf courses in Sri Lanka. The course is filled with dramatic undulations and a challenging turf that even tests the skills of well seasoned golfers adding more value to your stay at this amazing and mesmerizing villa. The experience was absolutely luxurious and it's not wrong if we said we'd want to come back and do it all over again.
10/10Lovely scenic getaway in the Kandy Hills My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Glasshouse with friends. The house was incredibly spacious and lovely. We spent a lot of time socializing in the pool area overlooking the breathtaking hillside view. The staff was always there to help and serve our every need. Having the lovely Victoria Golf Club within walking distance was a real bonus. We went there for scenic walks and played a 9 hole round as well. We had lots of highlights, but the biggest one was chef Kevin. He clearly took pride in his work and it showed. After each meal, he came to our table welcoming our feedback and took orders for the next meal. His Western food presentation and taste was as good as one would find in any top class restaurant. He was also very creative, particularly given some of the limitations he faced with ingredients, particularly given the recent heavy rains which destroyed some of the home grown garden vegetables. For one breakfast, we ordered Eggs Benedict. Some of us didn't want the poached eggs too runny. He understood our individual preferences and got it right perfectly. English muffins were not available. Not a problem, he made his own. On another day, he made a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. For one of the dinners, he made a Barramundi dish that was out of this world. We would go there again and take some exotic recipe items for him to be creative with and to surprise us. Bravo to everyone at Glasshouse.
10/10Perfect Location - Stunning Views We had an amazing stay at this lovely villa - designed to perfection in one of the best locations with absolutely stunning views. Good food, lovely presentation and very attentive staff. There's a nicely designed little bar area as well
10/10perfect place in the middle of Sri Lanka During our stay in Sri Lanka we visited 5 villas. Glasshouse Victoria was the best. The location and design of the house are just knocking off your feet when you enter. This is one of the most beautiful houses I have visited all over the world. Mornings with a stunning view, singing birds and beautiful nature were a perfect experience. The interiors of the house are perfect and luxurious designed. 3 bedrooms, each with a beautiful bathroom. Huge area in common with a bar, a place to relax and access to the terrace with a rimless pool and a covered outdoor dining area. Most importantly, the service is very professional and great. They made us feel unfettered. The Chef provided us with a great sampling experience. I highly recommend this place.
10/10What an absolute gem of a place ! Loved everything about the glasshouse. Such a tastefully built and furnished space with so much to keep you occupied with. They have a top notch collection of board games and a fabulous book collection. Both Paul and Shirani's presence is echoed in the tiny little details they've left in the house and you'd feel right at home snuggled up in a couch overlooking the infinity pool , reading Paul's many tales of his travels and life. We loved it so much that we bought two copies ( the whining pome , to the point and on the road again) to take back with us. The staff is lovely and went an extra mile to make sure we were so well looked after. They even gave us a surprise awrudu table as our stay fell on the new years' day. They have a fabulous chef who could make literally anything you'd fancy. I don't have enough words to describe how incredible the sunrise views by the pool are. You must see for yourself.? Will sure be back soon.
10/10A beautiful private villa facing the picturesque Victoria reservoir We chose The Glasshouse for a friends weekend out (2 nights) and couldn’t have been happier of the choice. A roughly 4-hour journey from Colombo takes you to the villa, and once you enter through the gorgeous, tall doorway and ascend the stairs into the open living/dining area, the view that unfolds will take your breath away. Add beautiful, spacious rooms, gorgeous sunrises, Chef Kevin’s delicious meals, Milan’s cocktails/mocktails (free corkage), Butler Amith’s attentive service, a clean, beautiful pool, and melodious birdsongs to that, and you have everything you need for a perfect holiday. We drove to the Albatros restaurant at the Victoria Golf & Country Resort for coffee watching a spectacular sunset, and in addition to the sites mentioned in the website, Hatale Mini World’s end and Huluganga falls are also like an hour’s drive away and will give you plenty of Insta moments. Or you can book a therapist and enjoy a quiet spa morning. Thank you Shirani and the staff for a wonderful, relaxing, memorable stay! We shall be back! :) Wish you guys all the best!
10/10Almost a piece of heaven on earth We were at Glasshouse Victoria from the 13th April 2023 to 16th April 2023. It was one of the best holidays we have had. The location was simply breathtaking, surrounded by trees and overlooking a lake. The rooms being spacious is an understatement. They were massive, and so comfortable. Beautiful infinity pool which overlooks the lake. Food - Arguably, you will not get better food than this anywhere else. Chef Kevin was excellent. A very decent human being, apart from being a great Chef, and eager to please his guests. Service - Absolutely great. Amith was always around to look into every possible detail and assist us with everything. I had a back pain the last day, and he took the time call me the next day - after we arrived in Colombo to find out how I was doing. Such, is the attention to detail. Then there was another lady, whose name I do not know, who kept the place very clean and tidy. All in all a fantastic holiday and we would go there again - hopefully soon!!
