Tucked away in a sequestered nook along the southern coasts of Sri Lanka, The River House is a serene retreat of magnificent beauty. Here, nature lovers will find themselves in a setting that makes their heart sing, for they are surrounded by a vast landscape of unspoilt greenery. Enveloped by wilderness, this secluded and scenic spot serves as the perfect venue for couples to hold the tropical destination wedding of their dreams.
Five bedroom suites, each named after a river, beckon invitingly towards holidaymakers looking to retire for the night. Wooden fixtures, beautiful ornaments and a variety of warm hues adorn the bedrooms, lending vibes of cosiness and comfort to the interiors. The award winning Menik suite clinched a spot on CNN Travel’s ‘21 Sexy Skinny Dip Spots’ around the world. Gin, Kirinda, Kala and Walawe are close contenders, boasting striking interiors that will not fail to impress.
A sparkling pool sits within a vast garden, its glistening waters offering promises of providing a cool respite from the heat. Engulfed by cashew nut and Nuga trees, the garden offers a verdant sanctuary for all to relax and rejuvenate. Sunbathe upon the sunbeds during the afternoons, and enjoy a round of sundowners in the evening. Gaze out into the swaying branches as you do so, and you will catch sight of mischievous purple-faced langur monkeys swinging delightedly from tree to tree.
The distinction between modern and traditional disappears at The River House. Its tastefully decorated living spaces contain a seamless blend of contemporary and traditional fixtures, with polished marble flooring and chic couches sitting next to oriental wooden windows and furnishings. During your stay, in whichever endeavour you undertake, expect nothing less than the best. When it comes to dining, the villa staff ups the ante, paying obsessive attention to details to ensure that a fine feast, catering to your every whim and fancy, is prepared. During your free time, sink into utter relaxation under the gentle hands of a professional massage therapist, or engage in an invigorating yoga session by the river bank or upon a soft patch of grass in the garden.
The River House enjoys impeccable service from a team of 15 staff members. Housekeeping service, personal guest service, security service, daily breakfast service and welcome drinks are included with your stay. Bicycles are available free of charge.
Amenities available at additional cost include: airport transfers, boat rental, laundry service, in-villa massages, personal chef services (for lunch and dinner) and child-minding services.
Balapitiya presents a fine selection of travel activities for vacation makers residing in the coastal town. The impressive Madhu Ganga, home to stunning waterways and pristine mangrove forests, offers an excellent site for birdwatching. Take an early morning boat ride to explore its tranquil serenity, or embark on a kayaking trip if you are in the mood for an adventure. Madugnga Lake will captivate the hearts of nature lovers, while Kowilawatta Temple will interest cultural buffs.
This was my First Hotel Check-in In Srilanka. I found the place so solitary. A great escapade from the bustling city :). The five hour travel from airport to Balapithiya was exhaustingly fun. we were the only guest for that time being. so the staff manage to really pamper us. The manager and staff were so helpful and friendly they even picked Fresh Mangoes for me for a quick snack :). We stayed for 3 days. and was well accomodated. we Took the second great suite which is in the ground Floor "GIN" which has an Open flowing Living, Dining and Bed Area. the Bathroom was huge. thou we had a small private Jaccuzi.we actually booked the Best suite that they have, which was at the 1st floor of the hotel.unfortunately they didnt booked it for us. They have a pool few steps away from the suite. we managed to have a tour to different suites that they have. i love the local designs and Interior. The food were great. just the pancakes wasnt that prepared as i was expected.
