10/10We stayed at the Mandira Graig Appin Bungalow. The place is quite beautiful. The bungalow is an old tea estate bungalow built by the British. The walls are granite. It is kept in very good condition and the surrounding are is serene with a view of rolling hills covered with perfectly pruned tea plants. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. Food is great.
10/10Nice and comfortable colonial house. Ideal for a group of friends if you can fill the house. Feels like being at home. Special mention to the chef Ravi for his delicious dinners and of course, breakfasts. Very attentive for guests with special food needs. Very friendly and always with his smile. Excellent tea served with cookies.
10/10We stayed in Mandira Strathdon bungalow for 2 nights while touring Sri Lanka. Beautiful renovated old plantation bungalow. It was the staff that made this place extra special. The manager, Jaya Ram has worked there for 30 years and looked after us so well. He washed and dried our soggy clothes free of charge after arriving from the rain forest. We were the only 2 staying there and he set up a romantic meal by candlelight on the porch. Also he is a very good cook, go for his traditional Sri Lankan food. We did Adam's Peak from here and had to leave a 5am in the morning. He made us a lovely packed breakfast and lunch in little wicker baskets. We also did a lovely work around the tea plantation from the bungalow. Watch out for leaches though in the rainy season. So quaint, like travelling back to the colonial era. Just to note, they do not serve alcohol but are happy for you to bring your own.
10/10We drove from Colombo and apparently there are multiple routes. So a bad choice can get you 8 hours+ on the road. This amazing bungalow is in the middle of a lush green tea estate. I reached all tired but the chef whipped up a lipsmacking meal of local food. Everyone is very hospitable and rooms are large. You need to get your own alcohol. We took long walks in the pre charted path into the estate. Be wary of leaches here although they are very small. The Bungalow has an outdoor dining section with a great view, infact even the toilet has a great view. Make sure you try the string hoppers and prawn curry. Overall I wish I stayed longer and I am definitely going back another day.
10/10Lovely bungalow, chef was amazing, the bungalow was spotless and immaculately presented, staff we friendly and accommodating. The guide to Adams peak was a G, gave us a little bit of history, knew the best spots, especially to see the amazing sunrise.
