Thank you for your interest in our villas. We look forward to speaking with you!
“Ambalama” means a resting place for travelers after the long journey across the island. This unique one bedroom villa has been designed to immerse its occupants with Sri Lanka’s tropical lifestyle.
As the entire villa is made up of one beautifully decorated room, the four poster antique bed is located in its own corner of the space giving you all the comfort you will need.
If you are happy indoors at Villa Ambalama, you will be ecstatic outdoors as you will step out into the garden of Villa Ambalama and see the exquisite infinity pool with the stunning view to match.
Villa Ambalama has everything you might need in one big spacious room with high ceilings and glass walls (which can be closed off by curtains if needed). The artfully antique mixed with rustic feel in the interior of Villa Ambalama is the perfect background for a relaxing time.
As a part of the Earaliya Villas and Gardens, you will find that privacy does not come at the cost of comfort and all the requisite services and amenities will be provided at Villa Ambalana.
Located in a beach town in the southern coast of Sri Lanka, about 45 minutes of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Galle and about 2 hours from the commercial capital of Colombo, Villa Ambalama is located in Weligama which is famous for its surfing friendly waves and for its stunning beaches.
Eraeliya Villas & Gardens was the perfect stay for our honeymoon, sadly we booked just 2 nights. We stayed in the private villa Ambalama which is beautifully decorated in "shabby chic" furniture and antique fittings. The locks to the doors are amazing and all the interior design is clearly well thought out. We loved the outdoor bathroom with shower looking up to the tropical skyline. Palms, birds of paradise. Little squirrels and occasional families of monkeys hopped over head. Tiny Frogs perch on the outdoor fountain. Despite being outdoors it was all clean and free from insects. The Spa treatments from their in-house masseuse were amazing and we had various treatments over the 3 days. He was kind, respectful and well trained. The infinity pool looking out to the sea was amazing and the small private beach was a treat, though at this time of year the sea was a force to be reckoned with! The Butler service was at first a little overwhelming as this is not something we are used to! But the dinner and breakfast service was amazing and felt really special. The traditional hoppers and Sri Lankan Breakfast was the best we had, served out on a table of our choosing by the sea. Dinner was served in our room as it was a bit windy but with the candles on in this incredible setting we had one of our best meals of the honeymoon. Our only complaint was the lack of bar service offered and then the beer in the mini bar was 8.6% strength! So a little odd. This was minor though as had did have a bottle of win with our meal which was perfect. We ended up buying the amazing Kimono dressing gowns from their tailor (we dropped one off for us before we left) the same elephant cushions were designed by him too.
I stayed in 2 of the Jet Wings and a homestay and Eraeliya is by far the best place in Sri Lanka to stay. The staff are fantastic, the food and menu is sublime and the view of the sea is beautiful. It's a tranquil, calm place, perfect for reading, relaxing and kicking back!
We stayed for four nights, and would have extended our stay if Eraeliya hadn't been fully booked already. Eraeliya was our favourite during our three weeks in Sri Lanka. A wonderful mix of a great location (view on the sea and direct access to a small tranquil beach - though only suited for good swimmers), a tastefully decorated mansion with a great collection of art work and furniture, and a wonderful welcoming team. The perfect place to relax. We loved our ocean front suite on the top floor, but the bungalows are nice too.
