Thank you for your interest in our villas. We look forward to speaking with you!
Galle Fort 39 is located in Galle’s historic 17th century UNESCO world heritage site, the beautiful Galle Fort. The Galle Fort dates back 400 years, and is a fascinating site of discovery, with traces of history left by the Dutch and British. It is by far one of the most popular tourist sites, and is dotted with many charming restaurants, cafes and boutiques.
The Galle Fort 39 with its Dutch era furnishings and design also blends modern luxury to create an elegant heritage property that graciously welcomes guests into its luxurious interiors.
There are 3 bedrooms in the villa spread across two floors, all of which have private en-suite bathrooms. The Master bedroom has a beautiful four poster queen sized bed and overlooks the romantic red-tiled rooftops of the Galle Fort, evoking a sense of nostalgia and longing for the past. The second bedroom also has a queen sized four poster bed, and opens out to a lovely courtyard garden and veranda. The third bedroom has a queen sized bed and matching antique wardrobe. This room looks over the historic Lighthouse Street where guests can watch the world go by.
The living and dining are designed in an open plan with high ceilings, and are furnished with custom made furniture including many antique pieces that whisk guests back to the colonial era. There is a trio of daybeds and plenty of sofas and cushions for guests to relax in whilst taking a spot of afternoon tea, or curling up with a good book. The dining area has a large 3 metre teak table that seats 10. Copper drop lamps cast their light overhead, and add to the vintage ambience. The dining area opens to the garden veranda which is furnished with a comfortable day bed for lounging in.
Certainly, Galle Fort 39 offers a beautiful haven from which to explore the wonders of Sri Lanka.
We stayed 5 nights in Galle Fort and enjoyed every minute. The house has an open concept living/dining room that looks on to the enclosed back garden. All of the bedrooms were air conditioned and quiet, perfect for sleeping. It was great to stay so centrally in the fort and have easy access to so many restaurants and sights. We were able to go back and forth as we wished, for rest breaks from the heat outside. We travelled with 2 children, an infant and a 4 year old and were battling jet lag. The staff were very good with the kids and we could get out to dinner on our own sometimes if the kids needed to sleep. And yes...the Wifi works well! You get some power cuts and other interruptions but it was good enough that we could even do some work as needed.
What a fantastic villa! A beautiful villa in a beautiful location
The location is fabulous. You can walk to the bars, restaurants, beach and ramparts. The staff is obliging and un-intrusive. The place is tastefully put together to offer the visitor modern comforts with a touch of Sri Lankan charm.
Wonderful villa in Lighthouse street - beautifully appointed for relaxation with friends or family. Totally wonderful location to explore Galle's restaurants and shops and opposite the best lounge bar in town. Loved it and will definitely go there again!
