Built at the turn of the 20th century, Villa Samudrawasa takes you back the glory days of colonial “Ceylon” (as Sri Lanka used to be called) with all the modern luxuries of an exclusive boutique villa. The more environmentally conscious travelers would be pleased to hear that Villa Samudrawasa was lovingly restored by local craftsmen using eco-friendly methods and materials and uses responsible methods to maintain the high standards expected by its guests.
Tastefully furnished, each room is decorated with a fine selection of antiques and eye-catching curios dating back to the colonial era.
With gardens both at the back and front of the house, guests are spoilt for choice on whether to sit back and relax on a chaise longue or slip into the pool to cool off after a dip in the ocean.
Complemented by the open air courtyard with an indoor pond, the large open living space with soaring ceilings and a stunning old chandelier is an ideal location where you can relax on century old antique divans and loveseats.
While guests at Villa Sumudrawasa will be treated to Sri Lankan cuisine by their cook, for those amateur chefs who wish to prepare their own meals, a fully equipped kitchen is available with staff ready to help with the preparation. The Villa also provides amenities for its guest such as sea kayaks, body boards, scuba diving equipment, snorkeling equipment and fins for the many types of aquatic excursions the guest may want to try out.
Travellers keen on venturing out of the cosy oasis of Villa Samudrawasa, will be greeted with bright and colourful hand-crafted traditional masks unique to the nearby town of Amblangoda. For the more adventurous travelers, Villa Samudrawasa is conveniently located to access popular destinations such as the Galle Fort; a UNESCO world heritage site, Yala National Wild Park to see elephants and leopards or Mirissa to see blue whales and dolphins (depending on the time of the year).
10/10Villa stunning. All bedrooms beautiful, furniture quality throughout. Spotlessly clean. Food plentiful and very good. Pool good size. Beach just across road, quiet and beautiful. 8 of us felt truly honored to have stayed in such a lovely place.
10/10We had an amazing time at villa Samudrawasa. The villa is stunning. It is beautifully renovated and has so much character. The rooms are large and it's the perfect setup for a group of people. The pool is gorgeous and the beach is just across the road. The staff are fantastic, they really looked after us. The Sri Lankan meals they cooked were delicious and so were the cocktails and home cooked snacks. We'll definitely stay again.
